Charlie Chaplin - The Great Dictator
A masterpiece, Charles "Charlie" Chaplin outdoes himself here. Satirizing the Nazi regime, Jewish internment and persecution, he outlines the road for world peace in a beautiful speech at the end of the film. Unbeknownst to him shortly after this film was made, millions of prisoners in concentration camps were going to be executed in horrific ways, experimented upon, and treated without dignity. This film, is just as important now as it was then, born of courage in the face of adversity, when many Americans and Europeans thought just the same as Hitler and the Nazi eugenicists.
