That's why dolphins are humans best friend in the ocean
Dolphins and sharks aren't rivals. Sure, they're both apex predators, but very rarely do sharks and dolphins prey on each other. The presence of dolphins does not means that you are protected from sharks. Sharks and dolphins generally eat the same types of food, so they'll congregate in the same area. With that being said, sharks generally don't attack people. Your chances of being attacked by a shark is less than one in 300 million (and your chances of being killed by one are even less), and all of the shark species considered to be the most "dangerous" have all been filmed in the wild without a protective cage. Sharks exist in a plethora of forms and have highly advanced senses, including the ability to sense electrical pulses in animals. And while they're not as smart as the super smart dolphins (bottlenose dolphins are considered second to only humans in terms of intelligence in the animal kingdom), the average shark is about as smart as your average cat or dog. Both types of these animals are extraordinary, yet some misguided people would like sharks to disappear from the ocean. And while many raise their voices to stop the horrific dolphin slaughter in Taiji, less people seem to care about the billions of sharks in humanely killed every year to fuel the shark finning trade. We need to let go of anthropomorphic beliefs about dolphins being superior to sharks, for this is incompatible with the efforts that are needed to protect both species. I stand with sharks and dolphins. (Or rather, float/swim)
